All members and those wishing to become members are invited to a talk delivered by Dr Scott Menary on the topic of "Biomedical Applications of Particle Accelerators". Dr Menary Dr Menary will also briefly speak about Sonoluminescence, which will be the introduction to the year-long research project led by the Physics Society under Dr Menary's supervision. "Physicists who developed and used particle accelerators for probing the structure of matter also turned their attention to the use of these machines to examine biomedical questions. I will describe the development of accelerators through the twentieth century and the various applications they have been found to have in fields like hadron therapy, synchrotron light sources, and nuclear medicine. I will conclude with some examples of potential future applications." --Dr Menary Food is available to members staying for the event. Great presentation and good company are always guaranteed!
